Bluestone on George is a family-owned and operated boutique property, created with a simple idea: to offer guests a beautiful, peaceful place to stay in the heart of Dunedin, with the freedom to enjoy it in their own way.

Owners Sandra and Neville Butcher have spent more than 30 years in the accommodation industry. That experience has shaped Bluestone on George — from the way the property has been designed and maintained, to the small details that make a stay feel comfortable and effortless.

For us, good accommodation is about more than simply having somewhere to sleep. It is about creating a place that feels considered, calm and cared for, while giving guests the space and independence to settle in and make the stay their own.

Designed with Dunedin in mind

From the beginning, Bluestone on George was designed to sit comfortably within Dunedin's distinctive character. Its architecture, materials and landscaping were thoughtfully considered to complement the surrounding cityscape, while the interiors bring a more contemporary sense of warmth and comfort.

The elevated position gives each studio its own outlook, with views across Dunedin and towards the surrounding hills, harbour and Otago Peninsula. Patios, balconies and garden spaces provide places to step outside, enjoy the fresh air and take in the changing views.

We love that Bluestone can be many things to different guests. A convenient base for discovering Dunedin, a comfortable place to stay while visiting the university, a peaceful retreat after a day exploring the city, or simply somewhere to settle in for a few days and enjoy having your own space.

We are here when you need us, but otherwise we believe in giving our guests the freedom to enjoy Bluestone in their own way.
